Legal Futures – Two ABSs on the way as Progeny springs into life

“Two new alternative business structures (ABSs) are set for approval next week, as the Leeds-based Progeny Group comes into life. The group will combine a commercial law and private client ABS with a separate, FCA-regulated wealth management business.

Currently Progeny Private Law, Progeny Corporate Law and Progeny Wealth are separately owned, but that will change when the Solicitors Regulation Authority approves the ABS licences, set for next week.

FT Adviser – Adviser merges with law firm for one-stop shop

“Leeds-based wealth management firm the Lawrence Scoffield Group has merged with private client and corporate advisory law firms.

The company – which has been rebranded as Progeny Wealth – form part of a new multi-service professional platform.

Neil Moles, who was managing director of the Lawrence Scoffield Group, has become managing director of Progeny Group.

He said: “Progeny provides a unique combination of wealth management and legal advice for private clients, corporates and family offices.

“Progeny was born out of an ambition to create the first multi-service professional platform designed to match client goals with those of the professionals advising them.””

“THE Progeny Group has formed as three multi-service advisory firms consolidate.

Progeny Wealth, formerly The Lawrence Scoffield Group, Progeny Private Law, which was founded by former Gordons partners, and Progeny Corporate Law, have combined under one banner.

They will all take their place under the Progeny group banner, and will be based at a Leeds head office, but retain their individual identities as divisions.”

“Leeds wealth advisory business Lawrence Scoffield is to merge with local law firms to create integrated firm Progeny, influencing around £1 billion in client assets.

The merger combines Progeny Law’s private client practice with Progeny Corporate Law’s corporate practice, alongside Lawrence Scoffield’s specialism in estate planning and investment advisory.

Neil Moles will head the group, having formerly served as managing director of Lawrence Scoffield. In a statement, Moles said: ‘Progeny provides a unique combination of wealth management and legal advice for private clients, corporates and family offices.'”

Progeny Private Law, Progeny Corporate Law and The Lawrence Scoffield Group have merged to form a new ABS called the Progeny Group.

The Leeds-based private client and corporate advisory law firms have joined up with the wealth management firm to form what it calls a “new multi-service professional platform”. With the head office located in Progeny House, Leeds, and offices in the heart of central London, the group says that it provides a unique combination of wealth management and legal advice for private clients, corporates and family offices.
