Professional services group, Progeny, has awarded this year’s annual prizes to top performing graduates at three Edinburgh universities.

Established in 2009 by Balmoral Asset Management, which joined Progeny in 2022, these awards are a long-standing commitment to recognising excellence and high performance in economics, management, finance and business studies.

Terry Barriga from Edinburgh Napier University was awarded the John Troy Memorial Trophy, Alicja Scorek from Edinburgh Heriot-Watt University was awarded the WS Johnston Memorial Trophy and Nini Liu from Edinburgh University was awarded the Progeny Trophy.

In addition, they each received a prize of £500.

Head of Academy at Progeny, Heather Ross, comments:

It’s so important to invest in the next generation of professionals and we’re sure that Terry, Alicja and Nini have bright futures ahead of them.

Forging relationships with our regional universities and graduate population is proving a great way to create better awareness of the many roles and opportunities available in financial services and we’re delighted that a number of previous winners have since joined us to continue their career journey at Progeny.

Winner of the Progeny Trophy, Nini Liu, comments:

I’m honoured to have been selected for this award. Thank you to Progeny for sponsoring it and for recognising the hard work and potential of graduates in Edinburgh.

A 2019 winner, Cameron Clark, joined Balmoral’s graduate scheme and continues to work for Progeny Wealth.

Last year’s John Troy Memorial Trophy winner, Andrew Hogg, has now joined Carbon Financial Partners, a Chartered financial planning firm which is part of The Progeny Group, as a graduate trainee.
