Six new associates have been offered places at the Progeny Adviser Academy, to begin their programme in early October.
The Chartered advisory firm launched its Adviser Academy in 2019 as a means of developing the financial advisers of the future and the three-year programme targets Chartered status, with applicants requiring the minimum of a Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning qualification.
As part of the selection process, candidates attended a rigorous, day-long assessment, which included a role-play exercise and a 15-minute personal presentation from each candidate. The day then ended with a group exercise to assess their communication, leadership, flexibility and teamworking skills.
Head of Academy, Heather Ross, comments:
“We’re excited to continue to grow our academy and welcome our six new associate planners. Our programme is designed to give associates a foundation of skills to recognise the holistic needs of our clients, coupled with an understanding of how the different business areas within Progeny work together to help fulfil these needs.
“Another major focus is on the softer skills that are so important in the role, such as building confidence in client-facing situations, awareness of body language, questioning skills, empathy and how to have difficult conversations.
“The final year in the academy then sees the associates bring everything they have learned together and discover how to build their client base.
“Our academy underlines our ongoing commitment to investing in our people and the next generation of professional services. It’s great to be able to support members of our existing team to progress with their ambitions to become Chartered financial planners in addition to seeing year one associates advancing successfully into their second year of the programme.
“In the future, we plan to include the establishment of graduate and modern apprenticeship programmes, and I would also like to attract more second careerists into the academy.”
