Personalised financial planning
As an independent financial planner, Sam helps clients answer the questions that matter most: Do I have enough? When can I retire? How can I improve my financial position? What happens to my family if something happens to me?
His approach is built on creating long-term, trusted relationships and delivering advice tailored to each client’s specific goals and circumstances. Cashflow modelling plays a central role in his planning process, helping clients visualise their financial future, understand what is possible and make informed decisions with confidence.
Sam provides ongoing support through regular reviews, behavioural coaching and proactive planning to help clients stay on track as life, legislation and financial priorities change. He also works closely with other specialists to ensure clients benefit from connected advice and a clear long-term strategy.
Building confidence for retirement and beyond
One of the most rewarding parts of Sam’s role is helping clients transition confidently into retirement. Whether clients want to travel more, support their family or simply enjoy greater peace of mind, he helps them understand their options and make financial decisions with clarity and purpose.
Clients can expect a relaxed and approachable experience, where no question is considered a silly question. Sam believes financial planning should simplify complex decisions and provide reassurance at every stage of life.
Having spent most of his life in Yorkshire, Sam has strong local ties and enjoys keeping active at the gym, playing padel, following football and Formula 1, and travelling whenever possible.
What Clients Are Saying About Sam
“I found out about Progeny through two of my business partners who strongly recommended them. The search had taken some time as most people I had spoken to felt at best “lukewarm” about their own advisers. I had an existing adviser at the time but wanted to change due to poor service from my former IFA. I have been delighted with Progeny’s performance and indeed have and will happily recommended them to others.
My financial planner, Sam Whitaker, is excellent. I particularly value the fact that he asks insightful questions, really listens to me and considers all options and recommendations with care. This has earned my full trust and confidence. Sam provides me with guidance in many areas such as tax efficient saving and legacy planning as well as how to generate the most tax efficient income in retirement. He is super responsive when I contact him with questions or queries. Additionally, I also very much appreciate being able to access multiple professional services within Progeny, for example, the legal team being able to assist with the production of my Wills and trusts for passing on wealth to the next generation. Having all these services under one roof makes things much simpler and is very time efficient.”
